I believe the second photo was in 2001 when he was already very famous. He went back to his old firehouse after 9/11 to help recover bodies. He never talked about it.

I just love how I grew up thinking he was a bad guy cause he played so many. Then 9/11 happened and he was out there helping and didn’t even want attention from it. Then I figured bad guys in cinema are good guys off screen….then Kevin Spacey happened.

I’ve always loved Steve as an actor and he seems like a very down-to-earth person. It really says a lot about his character that he went to volunteer at Ground Zero after 9/11 and has continued to support firefighters and their families throughout his movie making career. On a side note, I never knew how cute he was in his youth.
